Summer fires destroy
The burnt trees sizzle and smoke
Ashes veil green life.
Author’s note (From National Geographic): On average, more than 100,000 wildfires, also called wildland fires or forest fires, clear 4 million to 5 million acres (1.6 million to 2 million hectares) of land in the U.S. every year. Of these 4 out of 5 are started by people.

Welcome! Well done. I love this message and your Haiku is perfect. I live in the mountains of Colorado. We are pretty dry here and each summer, I dread the fires. ❤

I live in Arizona, so here as well. I am down in Mesa, but it’s heartrending to see what can happen.
