The Knight

-Linda Lee Lyberg

He wears a coat of armor
A uniform if you will
Of maille and shining steel
For deeds he must fulfill.

Rescuing damsels in distress
And freeing tyrannies hold
On all the innocent masses
And kingdoms under duress.

He rides on his white horse
The symbol of what is worthy
He is a man of integrity
Continuing on this journey.

Of righting all the wrongs
And fighting the good fight
Never faltering in his feats
Always doing what is right.

But when the armor comes off
He’s but a mortal man
Of flesh and bone and soul
A heart that cannot withstand.

To be broken and left alone
Without his beautiful love
For she is his lion’s strength
As mighty God is above.
