Critical Change
-Linda Lee Lyberg
Cutting words voiced
Rip through a sensitive soul
In haste without thought people hurl
The words that hurt, not heal the wound
Insensitive fools plod on in ignorance
Caring not for other’s feelings or ideas
And never care about the damage left
Lack of concern for their fellow man.
Can man evolve beyond hate?
Have we no moral compass?
All people have inherent rights
Not to live in mortal fear for life
God looks on with a heavy heart
Eclipse obscures caring souls

Author’s Note: My first acrostic poem. Acrostic Poetry is where the first letter of each line spells a word, usually using the same words as in the title.

I like that style of poetry, you have written a nice poem using it, must try it one day, if I can find the time.
Happy weekend to you.

Verbal abuse is painful. There is probably thought abuse also. I liked the last line about caring souls being eclipsed by this.

Hate is such a destructive force. That’s why decency is important also between people we disagree with.

Nicely done. It is hard to undone the harm caused by words.

You raise good questions, to which it seems the acrostic itself is an answer.

You’ve chosen a timely topic for your first acrostic, and managed it very well. The art, by the way, is astounding!b

Hmmm…. I see an agreement with my own sentiments here! If you can’t say anything nice, have a stick of gum. Your words rock artistic, and the artwork is stunning. Nice combo.

My mother once said to me, if you can’t say anything nice then swallow your words and see how they taste….the message in this is wonderful. We all need to be more civil to each other.

Yes she was. She took a different slant on eating our own words.

Thank you. You didn’t know…she died on Father’s day of this year. She suffered greatly the last month she was alive. God was mericiful.
