Leafing through an old book
Earmarked pages
A photograph
Veiled, did not foretell
Eyes as blue as a robin’s egg
Smile that would light my days
Offering the anticipation of a kiss
Failed expectations at best
Lost soul at risk
Infused with pain
Fake exterior
Evil thoughts and deeds
Facsimile of who I loved
A replica of who I knew
Landing at my feet, autumn leaves
Leaving me breathless
In the past again
No painless memories
Good-bye once more.

I liked how you joined the leaves of the book in the first stanza with the falling leaves of autumn in the second “leaving” one breathless. Nice acrostic.
