Protecting my fragile heart
Flaunting my daunting manhood
For all the cruel world to see
Wearing a hardened mask of gold
Detracting from the obvious
The truth un-welcomed, un-told
For you’ll never ever know
The truest pretender- me.

Chortle- that was a surprise, thank goodness he was wearing a mask to protect his reputation…or that of his family….

I, too, like the way you write this as a shy, insecure… um, exhibitionist. You handled it well (no pun intended). My question is how did a chimney sweep find himself in such a predicament?

I think I’d rather be haunted….or maybe I just was….haha. Love the contrast of “truest pretender”.

Hello. Brilliant description of a rather off-putting figure. Hidden attributes are more attractive than flaunted ones.

Didn’t even read the poem… I’m looking at…..other things………. Ok now my eyes are satisfied- you did well here- love the way he’s protecting his fragile heart…even in the pose.
Now back to the picture to examine this pose in detail for my personal notes…….. 🙂 🙂
