Shin kicker at three
A tiny slip of a girl
Her emotions ran free.
She took one look and whirled
Gave a solid kick to his knee
You’ll never be my father
You big old ugly beast!

It can’t be easy coming in as a stepfather… I hope it improved after that beginning. Love the attitude though… means that he had to do his best.

I’m sure it was an adjustment for my stepmother…I don’t know if I kicked her but I had tantrums!

Haha! Yes, it’s not easy to be a step parent. Unfortunately, even at 3, I knew he was no good.

Kids can sense it! Thankfully, my step parent had good character and I grew to love her as Mom.

As a step-parent (and a parent as well) I was honored to have my (step-)daughter take me on as Dad. Raw, open, honest poem — universal in feeling. Nice!

Only in videos. But I’ve listened to studio cuts. They’re good, but live he’s great.

A first start that was. Kids usually read a person quicker than an adult. Clearly you first instinct was right. A good read.
