Blackbird

blackbird-1348356_1920

As the insistent blackbird cried

There came a familiar voice

He spoke to me and sighed

You know this was a choice

There came a familiar voice

He said not to mourn or weep

You know this was a choice

When I made that final leap

He said not to mourn or weep

For now once more I am free

When I made that final leap

The angels greeted me with glee

For now once more I am free

He spoke to me and sighed

The angels greeted me with glee

As the insistent blackbird cried.

  2. A lovely poem and the insistence of the blackbird could really be felt through your words. Thanks for sharing! I have a poetry blog here on WordPress and today’s poem features a blackbird in case you have time to look? Have a relaxing weekend, Sam 🙂
