Letter to My Tattered Heart

As I sit with pencil in hand
writing you this love letter
ideas to ponder and understand
striving to know myself better.
Tattered heart, you’ve always been here
and I know I’ve caused you such grief
because I loved with no thought or fear
you’ve worked with no signs of relief.
But here’s what I want you to know
love is love and I will always love hard
which means even more glancing blows
And with utter certainty, deeper scars.
Beautiful once again

I think the heart will beat wildly once again… a heart like that can never rest.

Reflective and insightful indeed. Thank goodness for our hearts that lead us mindless to take risks….the only way to find love.

I’m not sure one CAN love without scars…

That’s a very astute statement. I agree with you. Scars enable us to love more deeply.
