The dark end of the empty street
cloaking her imperfections
hiding in the sombre night.
Her heart is full of rending grief
to face the world without him
for he was her only home.
She roams the cracked paths
and anything left behind.
But to her sorrowful anguish
there’s nothing but graying ashes
when she adored and cherished
a love of pure perfection.
he will return again with a
that she will always recognize
mattering not how long the while.

A darker poem. It brings to mind the few I’ve seen who have been left undone by life and love’s circumstances. Well done!
