Come to the Garden

My love, come to the garden to pray
Pass through the gate that’s always open
For God is here to guide your soul’s way.

Though some days are blue and grey
And your tainted heart is utterly choking
My love, come to the garden to pray.

Dearest one, tarry not yet another day
Fill your thoughts with faith and devotion
For God is here to guide your soul’s way.

Bury your naked toes in the softest clay
Laughter will heal that which is broken
My love, come to the garden to pray.

Though there be times you want to stray
Remember his love is a powerful potion
For God is here to guide your soul’s way.

So lift your voice in gentle praise
Sing to him with all your emotions
My love, come to the garden to pray
For God is here to guide your soul’s way.

  3. Totally beautiful! It could be chanted, sung. And the invitation hangs in the air as I think of my gates and gardens and God.

  4. Your beautiful words reminded me of my mother’s favorite hymn, which began “I come to the garden alone, when the due is still on the roses …” Thank you.
