Persimmon

Linger here persimmon… in fire dawn
for winter is coming much too soon
rest in cool arms of rich golden autumn
bask in the orange haze of harvest moon
when the leaves fall and leave mellow fruit
as you ripen in smoldering morning sun
in earnest you wait for your time to come
picked by loving hands, dessert to become.
Sweet fruit of the Gods on yearning lips
as we submit to our hot sinful pleasures
their honeyed essence.. perfume of pure bliss
juicy flesh of ginger ambrosia nectar
dripping, it slips down pale peach breasts
having found its euphoric place of rest.

Real Toads: A Rainbow of Sonnets
Your sonnet glows with persimmon, Linda! I love how the colours flare in the lines:
‘bask in the orange haze of harvest moon
when the leaves fall and leave mellow fruit
as you ripen in smoldering morning sun’.
I also love the passion, those hot sinful pleasures, you evoke through the sensual lines:
‘juicy flesh of ginger ambrosia nectar
dripping, it slips down pale peach breasts
having found its euphoric place of rest’.

Delicious sensual sonnet – I laughed at the line – ‘picked by loving hands, dessert to become’ – after all that breathless personification – o beloved fruit – you’re dessert. Yum.

Linda, I like the setting here, all under the “orange haze of harvest moon.”(I looked out tonight and we have one here, nice, round, plump.) Then comes the sensuous second verse, It has a hint of something more either to happen or did happen between the lines. I was mesmerized.
