Chasing Shade

background-72157_640
Vibrant Summer with your rush of green leaves and turquoise skies
sweltering dog days chasing the shade amongst windswept dunes
make haste now, dance the dance for Autumn is coming soon

As fall tiptoes into its season the wind eases, time slows
maple leaves turn to burnished bronze and brilliant gold
whispering to earth mother, rest now for time to rebirth
as we drift down into your arms, with warmth we will hold
and here we will lay and become next years fodder,
sheltering tiny seeds for the new Spring growth.

  1. This is wonderfully serene and peaceful ❤️ I love how you describe the slow and gradual transition to Autumn especially; “maple leaves turn to burnished bronze and brilliant gold.”😍

  2. I like the way the pace slows down from summer to autumn, Linda, and you’ve conveyed the changing colours so well. I love the lines:
‘sweltering dog days chasing the shade amongst windswept dunes
make haste now, dance the dance for Autumn is coming soon’
    and
‘As fall tiptoes into its season the wind eases, time slows
maple leaves turn to burnished bronze and brilliant gold’.
