Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
Desire is a slow ember glowing, burning
Igniting flames to illuminate black night
Their need dangerous wanting, yearning
For that which is gone from tender sight
Igniting flames to illuminate black night
Two souls craving the fiery touch of another
For that which is gone from tender sight
Stoking hot cinders that will not smother
Two souls craving the fiery touch of another
Shedding clothes, inhibitions with wild abandon
Stoking hot cinders that will not smother
Love’s fire blooms, raging with unleashed passion
Shedding clothes, inhibitions with wild abandon
Their need dangerous, wanting, yearning
Love’s fire blooms, raging with unleashed passion
Desire is a slow ember glowing, burning

Excellent use of the form to drive home the message. I haven’t written a pantoum in ages–you tempt me.

This is well written Linda. For a traditional structure, it flows well. I LOVE the title! “Desire is a slow ember”, much is said with those 5 words…

Your poem made me think of Cat People by Bowie:
…I’ve been putting out the fire with gasoline…
exactly how passion can work.

Wonderful pantoum, Linda. The image reminded me of some of Georgia O’Keefe’s paintings.
