Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
“Trees indeed have hearts.”
― Henry David Thoreau
Does a tree dream in vivid colors
as it sleeps in the cloistered forest
with fertile earth on gnarled roots
while it sways in the promising breeze.
And as it views the kaleidoscope world
from every trembling greening leaf
does it look at the intricate designs
as rampant nature repeating itself
in the shape of each blooming flower
or does it believe each is rare and unique
with all their beautiful intrinsic power

These are interesting questions, Linda, that have arisen from an interestingly vivid image. I love the idea of trees viewing ‘the kaleidoscope world from every trembling greening leaf’ and philosophising on whether the designs are ‘rare and unique’ or just ‘rampant nature repeating itself’.

Maybe they spend the whole growing season envious of all the color that surrounds them, creating within them selves the turbulence of longing so great, that it brings color to their own leave. If only for a short time.
