Earth-bound

I dare not question why
blackbirds can rise up
into an iridescent turquoise sky
soaring high above our mortal heads.

Birds have brilliant wings and sing,
while earth-bound you and I
with lead feet heavy on solid ground
can only talk, walk and run.

  1. We humbly accept our place…and when I see birds struggle against the wind, I’m glad to be on the ground. A stunning quadrille and photo, Linda!

  2. Leonardo looked at the birds and devised flying machines; I just read comic books about flying superheroes. We’re all taken with flight. I love the structure of your poem – just lovely.

  3. They are a wonder and magical against blue sky. They make it look so effortless. A lovely poem that captures the photo well, Linda.😊
