Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
Each morning the feeders are empty
and the wild birds are chattering on
while they are waiting, watching, wondering,
where in the hell has she gone?
Still they sing high in the treetops
their calls trill with joyous wild abandon
Calling to one another, their sisters and brothers
with mellifluous songs sung at random
They don’t know that hate and war exists,
or the craziness of today’s unbelievable news
all they care about is they have no seed, nothing to eat
And for them it’s the end of their perfect world.

Magaly has asked us to choose 1 or all three of satire rich cartoons from
The New Yorker to inspire us to write a poem. Here is the one I chose:

I love both pieces!
The one with the picture is rather humorous… That one is really good!

I adore finches and can watch them all day. Good point, Linda. They will discover disaster slowly.

I am happy for the innocence of birds……and grateful to all those who feed them.

Yes, me too Sherry. This is the time of year when I have to fill the feeders at least 2 times a day!

Maybe we all need to return as birds…though perhaps ignorance is not always bliss? But it does have its moments, the ignorance. *sigh*

A simple truth brings lots to think about. It seems we are their Gods if we provide food or not. Are we better off or not for our ability to plan ahead and store food?

This is incredibly heart-stirring! ❤️ I am reminded of what my mom says every now and then 🙂 oh if life was as easy as it is for birds.

You are so right! The birds still sing… I had a squirrel that would look in my big window and look for me if I didn’t get out there with the seed! The crows would look at me from their tree limb through my window as well – but as soon as I noticed them they flew away – they are so smart.

Poor little finch! It’s all relative isn’t it? An empty bird feeder means catastrophe for hungry birds although they could easily go foraging unless they’ve forgotten how… 🙂
