Chasing Fame

My Garden gates- Mesa AZ

Though some enjoy the crush
of chasing fortune and fame
or craving glittering diamonds
and playing a gambling game,

But as for me beloved friends
my greatest acclaim awaits
down the worn flagstone path
because all my cherished riches
begin at my garden gates.

      • You are welcome. There’s no doubt you and your garden have a love affair going on ❤ At my old place (had been there 25 years) I had my yard just the way I wanted it. Since moving here in 2011, it has been a slow (but fun!) process of getting the place together.

      • I understand that feeling. We have lived here for 21 years, and I am too attached to go anywhere else. When we moved here, I knew nothing about growing things in Arizona. I lived most of my life in Texas, and a couple of years in Pennsylvania when I was given a job promotion. It’s been a learning curve!

  1. I would love to visit your garden too, Linda, but it’s such a long way away! I’ll have to be content with the Facebook photos and imagine I’m there. I love the second stanza – my garden is a haven too!

  3. What they said; your sweet truthful employment of 44 words is inspiring My wife is the gardener in our family; flowers in hanging baskets and pots, vegetables in the ground.
