Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
They watch with apathy as the rivers run dry
and ancient trees are fallen, depleting earth’s oxygen.
When toxic plastics fill the bellies of majestic beasts
who wash ashore sickened, bloating and dying.
Innocent wild animals hunted to extinction
to hang on a trophy wall as proof of strength.
Though some may grieve over wrenching scenes
I ask you, what will it take for us to bring change,
to build a bridge across the dis-eased void of
these inhumane beliefs — why don’t they see?
This planet was here long before
we humans ever came to be
full of mysterious incredible creatures,
living in balance and harmony
yet man today seems to think
that we are the superior ones
but from what I see–
Earth our home, once beautiful and pure
is now overrun with selfish poisonous greed
that drives every thought, motive, and deed.

This is incredibly potent. You give voice to important and burning questions that need to be addressed and realized by mankind before it’s too late ❤️

I so agree, Linda, and love your question, which is THE question: “what will it take for us to bring change” ? We need to bridge these divides soon. Perhaps Mother Earth herself will force us to learn how to live another way, after cataclysmic events. We will wish, then, we had changed our ways sooner.

I couldn’t agree more and am appalled at the apathy of both developers, miners and politicians in the Earth’s rapidly approaching demise through their sheer neglect and thoughtless actions for profit alone regardless of the consequences.

Sherry and You need to go on tour…we need change, so badly! It hurts to see our planet is so, in need of our attention after centuries of being ignored~
Bravo

“build a bridge across the dis-eased void “—This should be our motto. Very aptly put.

Totally agree. I have written several poems about the changes so many refuse to see. It’s heartbreaking. 😦

That last rhymed couplet tells a truth too apparent to be denied–and no one can bridge the void in that frame of mind. Sigh. Of course, they have had the tools to build, just not the motivation.
