Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
He was the sun, the moon, the black amethyst sky
His voice thundered in the air, a timeless familiar melody
played by a thousand haunting bass drums
My heart now no longer mine, adrift in a vast ocean of emptiness
for my eternal love has gone, sailing to far off unknown shores
yet still, I ache and yearn to die in his sheltering arms

Imaginary Garden with Real Toads: Weekend Mini Challenge Magaly has asked us to pick any two prompts and write a senryu, elfchen, or cherita based on them. I wrote a cherita based on the following two prompts:
Putting my feet in the Dirt: Writing Prompts July Day 21-She was the sun (I used he) and MLMM: Heeding Haiku With Chèvrefeuille, Eternal Love
This is incredibly poignant, Linda! My deepest condolences to your friend..

This one put a lump in my throat. What a beautiful gift you’ve given to your friend, by letting us know just how precious he was. Sigh.

Thank you Magaly. He was a good friend who died much too soon. I saw his girlfriend (who is also dear to me) yesterday and she is doing her best to deal with the loss. I admire her courage and strength. They had almost 14 wonderful years together.

His presence is so felt in the first two stanzas… and the longing in the one left behind is well expressed. Sigh

My condolences to you and your friend. The beauty of your words shows what a terrible hole was made in your lives when he passed away.

I love the opening list of three, which lends colour to your cherita, Linda. I also like the use of sound, with the thundering voice and the haunting bass drums.I’m so sorry about your friend.
