Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
It’s Saturday morning, September 28, 2019. I have written and published a poem dedicated to my husband for our 23rd wedding anniversary. This anniversary is unusual because every year we go out of town to celebrate. The day has an air of uncertainty, as if the stars are not aligned because we are doing something different. This is a day of mixed feelings for you see today we are attending a memorial service. Who is not of importance here, but suffice it to say we are feeling less than joyful.
Which brings me to my reason for writing this. My husband reads the poem and loves it. The name of the poem is ‘My Love is the Blue Dragonfly.’ We hug and it is perfect. Our bond is strong, even after all these years.
As we are looking out the window, there in our garden is a huge blue dragonfly flitting about, swirling in the air! We step outside and watch him for several minutes as he performs his aerial act. He comes so close I can see his big eyes, but doesn’t ever land nearby. We have never seen a blue one in our yard before, only Red Skimmers. We look at one another and know – this is a sign.

I adore dragonflies! I have a silver one on a china which I always wear, as well as two brooches.
By the way, did I wish you a happy anniversary? Congratulations – 23 years! And what a wonderful thing to happen, the meeting of poem and rare blue dragonfly.

That should say ‘on a chain’ not a china! Bad motor finger! 🙂

Beautiful! Serendipity!
We used to have dragonflies here. Now I only see them when I go to the beach. Beautiful creatures.
