Rising Star

No worries dude it’s cool,
singing mournful blues
he strums his scarred guitar,
chances are he’ll go far
if he believes
He’s a rising star.
One night
when he’s crooning a tune,
he hears the perfect words
‘Copasetic, Man- you sing like a bird!’

  1. I think this is the first time I’ve seen a prompt word be implied in absentia. I read it thrice before it struck me. You had me at /scarred guitar/.

  2. Come to think of it I haven’t heard anyone use the word copasetic for a very long time. Funny how terms come and go. I have to admit I read and reread your poem looking for the word set, and it wasn’t until someone clued me in I discovered just how clever you were!
