Cornucopia Colored Day

And I pray comforting autumn’s light
will keep the smoke grey winter away
brilliant colors dance as swallows take flight
on this brisk cool cornucopia colored day.

But I know too soon winter will come calling
leaving frost on pumpkins, as snow begins falling.

  1. I love the alliteration that explodes in my mouth in the phrase ‘brisk cool cornucopia colored day’ – it sounds like leaves scuffling across the ground. I also love the dancing colours and the wistful tinge in the frost on pumpkins – I too have felt winter on the wind.

  2. Beautiful rhythm and rhyme here Linda. I love cornucopia as a color. It quite specifically definitive. Beautiful photo as well.

  3. brisk cool cornucopia colored day – such a descriptive stanza, I can really see the coulors, smell the autumn. In my mind anyhow, outside most leaves have fallen, and this morning it was cold enough for real winter clothes.
