Oh Winds Of Change

Oh winds of change why must you blow
and come roaring in like a hurricane
blowing my comfortable life to and fro
left in your wake, everything’s changed

And yet, the unknown is always there
or so say the stoics of centuries past
for comfort is but an illusion we wear
and life is never meant to endure or last

So Blow, changing winds Blow, Blow, Blow!
And in the end my weathered soul soars free
to explore other cosmos never known
floating on a breeze with gossamer wings

  1. I’m afraid there’s no stopping those winds of change, Linda! My favourite lines:
And in the end my weathered soul soars free
to explore other cosmos never known
floating on a breeze with gossamer wings

  2. This is utterly gorgeous, Linda! ❤️ I love especially; “And in the end my weathered soul soars free
to explore other cosmos never known,” you are one of the most amazing people I know! 😍

  3. I agree that your closing lines are killer. Very creative to speak with winds of change. I have put my shoulder against it all my life.

  4. I hear that Eric Burdon and the Animals song, ‘Winds of Change’ as I read your poem, its trippy, shifting cadences. Footing is a tough one, here in this place, and I like the liberation felt in the end. You actually join that which was blowing you into your new self.

  5. I think we’re more likely to abandon when we outgrow responsibility. Isn’t that odd? Just when comfort seems most inviting we recognize it’s illusory! Brave and powerful poem.

  6. Nice description of comfort as an illusion. Change brings adventures and as I recall someone once said adventures are only enjoyable after they are over. That’s when we are glad we had them.
