A Chance Encounter

There are moments caught between heart-beats when the world tilts on its axis and time stops. For the woman it is when she first hears his deep voice from behind while standing in line to see a movie.
“Everything I learned, I learned from the movies.”
She turns around, and looks into the most startling brown eyes she has ever seen. They are deep amber, with flecks of gold shot through like an autumn sunset.
He smiles and asks, “Do you know who said that?”
“Of course, Audrey Hepburn, my favorite. She stars in the movie we are about to see. And it is also based on a book by one of my favorite authors- Truman Capote.”
He laughs, offers his hand and says, “Hi, my name is Truman. What’s yours?”
And in that instant, the world tilted and Holly fell in love.

  3. I enjoyed your take on Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Linda. I like the vivid description of the ‘most startling brown eyes she has ever seen. They are deep amber, with flecks of gold shot through like an autumn sunset’.

  6. What a delightful romp. As a movie buff and ex-actor, I really dig the film
    references. Ironically, you have described my hazel eyes, that change color with different shirts, often described by ladies just as you have done; blush.

  18. I want to say, Holly GoLightly….was that her name in the movie? I ADORE Audrey Hepburn and the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Love this use of the prompt phrase for this romantic interlude. Well done!
