Always, the Words

Though others may think I’m antisocial

Because I enjoy being alone

Spending long days writing until my fingers ache

Searching for answers to questions

Others never think to ask

While dead heading a fading rose in the garden

And watching lizards play among the stones

You and you alone know the depth of my soul

And you alone, know always

The words are what make me whole

  1. I LOVE this, especially “the words make me whole”. I too am a solitary creature, so this time is only a bit more solitary than usual. I do miss walks though, and the beach. I love the poem, Linda – I can SEE you lopping the head off that rose!

  2. As others before me have commented The words are what make me whole” Perhaps, as poets we will all say that. Being a solitary person. as well, I can relate to your poem very much 🙂

  3. Sure Linda, that’s the way writers and their words become. It is a coming out of what was inborn. To some extent that’s the way my blogs and I have become since I retired.
    Very pleasant to read.
