Path to Peace

“People shouldn’t be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people.”  ― Alan Moore, V for Vendetta

What lies beneath the path ahead
Though littered with the fallen
Is a brighter more hopeful future
If only we learn to bear
Witness to the untold haunting stories
Buried deep within this tainted worship
Of absolute power and greed

And once we are brave enough to uncover
That which has been the true dis-ease
Then will we begin to believe in others
And this poisoned state we are currently in
Will wither, die and with finality end
Leaving us to begin again
To create lasting positive change

  1. If only it would whither without struggle. But we uncover and grow strong even if it is a long road ahead. Nicely put–the answers are in thee earth beneath the rubbish. How is it that you always have the perfect quote to begin?

  2. Dis-ease is right. It has gotten so bad, all I can do is hope the next election brings change. It will take a long time to undo all the damage but at least the worst of the horribleness might then stop and give us half a chance. Sigh. It takes courage. And hope. And action.

  3. So many people are fearful of the path ahead, Linda, not knowing what it holds, and it’s so hard to stay positive and hopeful, when trouble lies around every corner. These lines are so true:
‘And once we are brave enough to uncover
That which has been the true dis-ease
Then will we begin to believe in others’.
