Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
Tap,tap,tap
My heart drumming
Beating with ferocity
Filling me with anxiety
Clouding my head with all the ‘what ifs’
Long deep breaths to slow the pounding beat
Promising myself that whatever comes,
I will meet it with the same intensity and win

The rhythm really builds up in your quadrille, Linda, and I could feel my heart speeding up too! These lines are like a drum tattoo:
‘Beating with ferocity
Filling me with anxiety’
and then you slow it down expertly with the longer lines.

I really identify with this poem, Linda. In my case, awakening in the night, afraid I’m not going to be able to breathe. Is it coronavirus? Just anxiety, but the heart doesn’t know the difference…

No, it doesn’t. Thanks Judy.

The heart when taut like a drum consumes both body and mind. I know you will
find the courage to meet it. (K)

I can imagine your drum is beating rather fast! Deep breaths and let is slow down naturally!
Wishing you the best!

Surely this era of pandemic will do that to heart and breath.
We must think flattening the curve and winning.
