Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
“Someone I loved once gave me a box full of darkness. It took me years to understand that this too, was a gift.”
― Mary Oliver
I’ll not go placidly into the dark
When my time here on earth comes to an end
Rather I’ll dance to the melody of larks
And soar with graceful wings on the nascent wind
When my time here on earth comes to an end
I’ll sing Hallelujah to pale moon and bright stars
And soar with graceful wings on the nascent wind
As I transform, become free from tender scars
I’ll sing Hallelujah to pale moon and bright stars
And darling, I’ll whisper music into your ear
As I transform, become free from tender scars
Know this my heart’s love, I am forever near
And darling, I’ll whisper music into your ear
So come dance with me to the melody of larks
Know this my heart’s love, I am forever near
For I’ll not go placidly into the dark

I don’t usually like a lot of form poetry, but this piece is outstanding. It is tender and loving, yet totally singular and stands alone. I really like that you don’t intend to go gently into the dark. I don’t intend to either. I hope to be laughing out loud when my time comes.
