Like Water

“In one drop of water are found all the secrets of all the oceans; in one aspect of You are found all the aspects of existence.”

― Kahlil Gibran Jr.

My luminous dreams are water
flowing in, around, and over me
but I am only a worn grey pebble
in this teeming riverbed of life
as it ripples, as it trickles

Immersed in its beautiful symmetry
flooded with vibrant hues and shades
my fantasies are drops of golden hope
sustaining all my bright sunlit days
and blue moon-drenched nights

  1. I like “and blue moon-drenched nights” and how it evokes the image. The water has bounced up, but the pebble is under the surface.

  2. I like the idea of being a small “worn grey pebble” in a flowing stream. I brought home a pretty green stone from a river in China but when it dried it was a dull green.
