Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
Stella sits in her rocking chair, mesmerized by flames dancing in the stone fireplace. In front of the fire, her two old dogs Beau and Nona lay sleeping and twitching. In their dreams, they sleep with the moon and chase rabbits from star to star.
Oh, how she longs to join them, to see the world through their eyes!
To run with wild abandon of pure joy, to feel the thrill of the hunt only to have their bounty leap away and escape. The rabbit lives another day, and the dogs find a dragonfly to follow.
Life is like that sometimes. You spend so much time chasing dreams that you never realize that all along, you were living your dreams and what you have is all you need.
She closes her eyes and drifts away, running with the dogs in the star studded sky.

Rabbit is contemplative; dragonflies are adventure. Give me the dragonflies every time. Great work L3!

Lovely, Linda! I have often watched cats and dogs dreaming (we had a dog who barked in her sleep a few times). And it is indeed peaceful to be content with what one has.

Oh, I love this Linda! My favorite line is …they sleep with the moon and chase rabbits from star to star. Beautiful! Very nicely done.

This is so heartfelt! I agree, it’s peaceful to be content with what we have and be to grateful. Happiness lies in simple things and in the moments we share with loved ones 👏💝

I think that this is very wise… the dreams are no further than here and be it rabbit or dragonfly, we can learn from the dogs
