Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
Broken shadows across the cracked ground
as summer refuses to die
the land and I are weary
day after day burning~
unrelenting rays
of intense sun
beating down
on my
breast.

Author’s Note: Line 1 is from W.S. Merwin’s “To the Light of September”. The form is a Nonet. Also, I apologize for not reading much lately. The radiation treatments make me so tired. I start reading and get sleepy and then I’m done. Eight more treatments to go. I will be glad for this part to be over.

The heat and the sun is so different from the cool of the North, and for you this time must be extra hard.

Beautiful. How’s your remission btw? I followed your Op but I’ve never followed up on how you’re getting on.

Thank you. Well, I have 7 more radiation treatments to go and then I’ll be taking medication for 5-10 years to lower the risk of recurrence. I’ll have regular follow ups every 6 months.

This one resonates with me Linda. I am always ready for summer to leave and autumn to begin. I realize it has a deeper meaning for you, and I hope your burning summer is behind you soon. Take care. xx
