Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
As light spills upon white paper
We contemplate life’s fickle fate
Caught up in this capricious state
Pawns in play for our creator.
Though there’s no point to belabor
What riddled perils day may bring
To our past we should never cling
For mystery awaits in haste
With few precious moments to waste
So welcome whatever it brings.

I like it very much.
‘Pawns in play for our creator.’ It certainly seems that way, though a pawn may become a king.
Well done.

LOVE these lines:
“For mystery awaits in haste
With few precious moments to waste
So welcome whatever it brings.”
It’s best to accept the past for what it was and accept the future as it comes. I love this aspect of your piece, as clinging to the past does not always bring good results. Beautifully written with wisdom. ❤

We should not linger on those bad things… the rhymes, in the end, works very well

Lovely piece Linda and thanks for your fine reading. I liked your rhymes – light/white, bring/cling etc. which sound like bells chiming at the end of each line – and I particularly liked the sounds moving in this line ‘Pawns in play for our creator.’ the p sound introduces the long ‘a’ in play and ‘creator’. Bravo.

Many of us have recorded their poems out here tonight; I enjoyed your reading. I’m latching onto the Hope prescribed in the piece. Hope has been trampled by Trump, reduced to an abstract thought–times to reinvigorate hope for sure.

“life’s fickle fate,” is such an elegant way of describing the roller-coaster we experience. There is mystery, coupled with crosswords whose outcome depends purely on the choices we make. Exquisite write and yes 🙂 I love your reading too! 💝

In light of what you’ve been through there is depth to the poem beyond just the words. Nice wordplay and nice to hear you reading it.

It is so hard to let go of the past, but the freedom it brings to enjoy the present and look forward to the future is worth it – life is indeed too short. I love the rhyming in this poem, Linda, and the way you describe the realisation of truth as light spilling on white paper.

I agree with your message: we’re all prisoners of fate but also blessed with each day of life. Your words and message sing out loud and clear!
