Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
“There’s a special quality to the loneliness of dusk, a melancholy more brooding even than the night’s.”
― Ed Gorman, Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool
Golden light of dusk fading gray
as daylight’s candle snuffed
drifting smoky clouds linger
a sense of peace surrounds
this sacred primitive scene.
And in this memory we will abide
forever and a day as we slip away
in a weathered skiff for two.

Linda, your beautiful poem reminds me that often it was around this time of day that we were coming in from sailing. Priceless memories.

I agree with the quotation you chose, Linda, and love a bit of romance on a chilly morning, this 1st December. I also love the metaphor ‘daylight’s candle snuffed’. A peaceful quadrille, especially the thought of slipping away ‘in a weathered skiff for two’.
