For You and You Alone

Golden orb hanging low
in waning evening sky,
Your amber eyes aglow
in sunset’s fading light
My love, come closer still
let me whisper in your ear
I’ll sing your blues away
for I’ll always love you dear
forever and a day

For you and you alone,
I’ll part the deepest green sea

For you and you alone
I’ll lasso this harvest moon

For you and you alone
are the only one for me

For I’ll always love you dear
until my dying day

  1. Neil Young is another all-time favourite of mine, Linda, and I love the way you’ve interpreted ‘Harvest Moon’. Lots of warm colours in this poem to sing the blues away.

  2. This is such a beautiful and heartfelt love song inspired by a song I love. Very touching to read, and those final lines really pierced my heart.

  4. Love and love poetry. And love songs and human emotion. I am puzzled by love, I don’t know what to make of it after so many years wandering the metaphorical wilderness. Perhaps it is mostly physical, or is it quiet companionship. The latter I think.

  7. I enjoyed your poem! I gravitate more toward rhyming poetry than free verse, and I have written many myself about the moon, so this was a winner for me 🙂 I’m Markie, I recently created my first blog at southpawpoet.org Come visit sometime!
