Azrael’s Grief
Bone weary, I heave a deep breath and prepare to move yet another soul from this life to the next. These days, I have no time to honor their passing. All I can manage is a short prayer of redemption before I move on to the next diseased body at hand.
It’s been a long year and there is no bright end in sight. Our briefing 5 years ago was to prepare for this, but none of us thought it would come down to this travesty of death. We believed goodness would prevail and it would never come to pass. But God could no longer ignore the foreboding signs, for man’s free will was running rampant.
Now, faith is gone, and day bleeds darkness. I should be more positive, but reading what I have just written I now believe even angels can lose hope.

I wish you were here with me. If you were, you would have heard an audible sigh and a whispered “oh my gosh” as I finished reading your post. This is so gut wrenching….most especially in these Covid times. And most especially for individuals who are having their own fight with a disease or malady….thinking of you, Linda. But — I have to think, there is a guardian angel that invisibly and quietly sits on each person’s right shoulder, and fights valiantly for that person to remain healthy and stay alive. May each one of our guardian angel’s give us a bit of a pinch this season, to remind us they are with us and brighter days will come.

This is incredibly poignant and timely, Linda! There certainly are times when hope seems lost and out of reach .. but it bounces back .. 🙂 and when it does we are filled with light 💝💝
