Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
Since June of last year, my life has been a revolving door of doctor visits, tests, and surgeries. Being diagnosed with breast cancer in the middle of a pandemic was not on my list of ‘fun things to do in 2020.’ But, I found myself enduring more than I ever thought possible and traveling down that ‘what if’ road.
Even now, looking back, it is hard to fathom it all; it is a surreal nightmare. Now that I am currently cancer free, I look at the world with crystal clear eyes. I am blessed as this whole situation could have had a much different outcome. There is nothing more sobering than facing your own mortality.
We all know we are going to die, but in our day to day lives we manage to put it aside. That is, until a major life event shifts our perspective and we begin a scramble for time, more time, I need more time. God has seen fit to give me more of my humble beautiful life, and I am grateful.

I can imagine it must have been a terrible year. But the reprieve must have felt quite extraordinary.

I went through this over four years ago. I learned a lot and found it to be a profound experience that I wouldn’t wish on anybody. But I am fine and wiser and am glad to hear that you too are doing well.

Yes, I think it changes us- for the better if we choose to let it be so. Thank you.

To have so many things coming at once and still come out on top is amazing… those dry leaves will soon be the soil from where flowers grow.

Hi Linda.
I really took this post to heart! Though I have not had it, breast cancer runs in my family and I have seen first hand what it can do. I am so glad for you; for your victory, your positivity, and your renewed vigor for life!
2020 was (yay for past tense) difficult under the best circumstance! But this was a reminder that there is indeed always someone worse off. I wish you nothing but happiness and continued remission!
