Musings on Life, Love, and Linguine-Poetry & Writing
This is not a garden bench
It’s an inspiring art project built with our hands
using your skill and our vivid imaginations
made of aging corbels rescued from an old house
It’s doors with glass and painted antique knobs
leading to hidden realms if we say magical words
and turn colorful skeleton keys three times
It’s our weathered church in all its beautiful holiness
where birds sing hallelujah to wildflowers and angels laze
watching stone rabbits graze while green lizards play
It’s your strong, loving arms that comforted me
when I wept in our untamed rambling garden
over the invasive cancer in my left breast
This is not a garden bench
This is a heavenly place of rest.

Thank you Lisa! Much like the rest of us, I only venture out to pick up grocery orders so my garden has become even more important to me.

Oh, Linda. This is just perfect. I often covet your garden space on Facebook, and this bench is quite divine. These spaces become sacred as we fill them with conversation, tears and laughter. This is just a wonderful piece.

I love it. What whimsy. I take it we are discouraged from sitting on it, however…

This is so much more than a bench… didn’t you use to work at IKEA?… so different from that world.

Yes, I did. I was a visual presentation department head. And my husband worked there too from time to time as a carpenter. It’s where we met. 😊

This is a place of heart, gathered objects of beauty and scraps of fear to create a resting place. I wish the were more benches like this in the world.
Thank you for sharing.
