An Irrefutable Truth of Tranquility
Though the landscape is cloudy
colossal trees illuminate the past
a lifetime forgotten in rosy brown hues
of roughened bark and spiraled rings in wood.
And so you seek sweet tranquility
from yesterday for now you can see
ancient history proves this- seek and you will find
though questions aren’t normally spurious–
In our troubling times, these certainties rise up and stand
leaving you with an irrefutable truth.

Oh wow, Linda, just toggled back and forth between your original and your flipped poem and love what you did with it. Very deftly done, my friend, especially how the conclusions shifted. I get a sense that you were in two different places when each was written and base that on your recent health situation. ❤

I truly love this. There is a power in collossal (sp?) magnificent trees! They seem to reach into the heavens, cause us to look up, which is always inspirational. And they define “roots” deep into our earth. This is a wonderful poem in and of itself!
