A Woman Blessed

Redheaded Woman and Sunflowers-Paul Gauguin

“And she was fair as is the rose in May.” –Geoffrey Chaucer

Sunshine glows on fair skin
Lights her face with joy- for though
Life has dealt her countless blows
She rises above the noise

Weathering sunshine or rain
She inherited the strength of a woman blessed
With grace to carry on regardless of her pain

  1. A lesson to be learned. . .a poem rich both in style and substance, flowing smoothly AND saying something. A lovely, timeless read, (and study!).

  2. Fair maidens appear in my poem too. Yours is a fine illustration for the prompt, and it does have a classical vibe to it.
