Love’s Elixir
-Linda Lee Lyberg
Once you’ve tasted of love’s elixir
It’s no longer a nonchalant affair
As upon her sweet lips you whisper
I love, I ache, I need without any care.
For now the poison runs through your veins
And there is no turning away
Your heart a prisoner in welcomed chains
So in her fortress you’ll stay.
A welcomed bondage you embrace
As her heart wraps around yours
One look into her lovely face
And from your lips, love pours.
Now, the elixir is in you and her
Both wrapped and tangled in love
Your dismal life becomes a blur
Ensnared by your cooing dove.
