Marble Heart

from the pain of wanting you
leaving cracks in the veined marble
where our tender love once grew
into my soul only to leave
me alone, now it’s I who must pay
and pray for the peace needed to move on
the chasm you’ve left is vast and wide
for there will never be enough love
to fill where you once lay
I will be until time ends
all that’s left where long ago
your name was written so now
I’ve naught but an emptiness
and the tailings left behind
Such a heartbreakingly beautiful poem. The lament of lost love..sigh! And the first stanza just took my breath away. ❤️
