full snow moon

on cold bare branches

scarlet splash on black fingers
longing for the warmth of spring

a new day brings joy
budding branches flowering
fresh season beckons

ladybugs feast on aphids
protecting new growth

Author’s Note: From the Carpe Diem challenge, a Tan Renga with a twist wherein we write the next two lines, a haiku, and the final two lines.
