But a Man

“As if you were on fire from within.

The moon lives in the lining of your skin.”
― Pablo Neruda

He is but a man, an ordinary man, yet~
he dares to alight near my moon-glow flesh,
and I cannot speak his name, for I have been struck
down by his alluring ravenous presence.

In my eyes he matches the gods
Viking warriors, those most feared, who dared
to take what they wished
who vanquished all other men for
none could match their courage,
their willingness, to own what they desired.

Wrapped in the softest furs of their animal spirits,
they plundered both harsh land and unwilling women.
And yet he, with utmost patience, sits
here in front of me, at my feet no less
like a common ordinary man
allowing the music of my lilting voice to captivate
and enchant, to calm his victor spirit,
whilst my hungry heart sings to his dark soul and
I see the white hot fire, the burning, the yearning ignite.

My ruby stained lips, at last whisper his given name,
~RAGNAR~
this is what he has longed for, waited for, begged for
with his dancing flame eyes.

My own eyes ache with the
passion of a thousand fragrant blossoms
floating in the euphoric air and I at last succumb, for what else can I do?

But all ~ this zealous fire, this agony, this ecstasy, this
plunge of the deepest sword
must be endured~
for even a poor victorious warrior
hungers for the elusiveness of love
and the essence of a sensuous woman.

When the Heavens Explode

“We all shine on…like the moon and the stars and the sun…we all shine on…come on and on and on…”
― john lennon

I heard the stars singing last night, an ancient lullaby
sharing their mystical wisdom from high in the nightwind sky

They sang to me their sorrow of man’s refusal to believe
how his actions are harming the earth, and the universe we see

For every action has a reaction like dominoes tumbling down
when you set one in motion, yes the world will still turn around

But the deepest question my friends we should all be thinking of
Will we be around to see it when the heavens explode above?

Poets United: Midweek Motif Looking at Stars

Enthralled

Gliding
on whispered breeze
delicate butterfly
enthralled with every jeweled bloom
Beguiled
drunk on each flower’s honeyed wine
fluttering from blossom
to blossom, sweet
bouquet

I Drank the Moon

“She didn’t quite know what the relationship was between lunatics and the moon, but it must be a strong one, if they used a word like that to describe the insane.”
― Paulo Coelho, Veronika Decides to Die

I drank the delicious moon one dark balmy night
as it flowed from the celestial blue sky,
An illuminated river of planets and nubulae
Tempted me with their moonlight madness.

The lustrous moon tasted of honeyed milk,
The bonbon planets oozed with dark chocolate
The nebulae, fragrant as crystalized ginger
Set my hungering afire with consuming desire.

And I became entangled and trapped
within this universe of delightful light,
a bodiless soul shimmering, in translucent air
floating among the stars and drinking the moon
Swimming in the insanity pool of my poetic mind.

Only a Nick

Only a nick, a tiny scratch
a heart broken in two
it’s easy to mend all the cracks
with a little tape and glue.

But this you should know
about a paper heart,
once it burns, catches fire
love dies, leaving nothing but ash.
