We are born of love; Love is our mother. -Rumi
Our colorful roses are blooming with spring’s passion,
I thought of you once more today wondering where you are
There, is that you I glimpse through the ocean tears of my eyes
behind the gossamer veil separating your world from mine?
Are you in the brilliant golden sun, when it shines on me
or in the gleaming falling stars soaring wild and free?
And though dear mother, we are now apart
so many wretched lonesome years have gone
since I’ve touched your soft warm skin,
I know you live on in my hopeful heart
until that shining moment when
I go to the other side
and we meet again.

Carpe Diem Haiku Kai: #1661 Tan Renga Beginning of Autumn

The streets are full of lonely souls yearning to be heard
crying out in empty silence, stumbling on every word
but eyes they say are a true window into every soul,
those empty eyes in pain are devoid of any joy
for life’s anguish takes its bitter toll
And should you take the chance, smile and say hello
would those vacant lonesome eyes at last show
some signs of vibrant life and begin to glow?

“I don’t see the desert as barren at all; I see it as full and ripe. It doesn’t need to be flattered with rain. It certainly needs rain, but it does with what it has, and creates amazing beauty.” – Joy Harjo
Jacarandas rise high in the crystal blue sky
swaying in the whispering spring breeze
creating a storm of aubergine rain
falling onto damp emerald green.
Too soon will come the brutal desert sun
shimmering, dancing in blue waves of heat
when the thick burnt toast air is still, never stirs
unless a monsoon is coming from the Southeast.
