The freshness of this spring breeze whisks away
any grey gormless clouds of winter’s memory
bringing sweet dreams of fragile sprouting seeds
to blossom and brighten our once dreary days.
From the gnarled lemon tree wafts a pungent tang
of crisp citrus in the air, enticing butterflies to dine
and lay tiny white eggs under wax green leaves
as buzzing honeybees gather fine powdered wine
of golden pollen within tender white blooms.
Ah yes! Bonny spring has come with ecstatic delight
I hear passionate songs of lonely male mockingbirds
a tender serenade tempting females through the night
so they can they build a nest in dappled shade, mate
then lay eggs and wait for their hatchling’s birth.

Kindness is the soft trod
footsteps through the wildflowers
the song of the mockingbird
singing the brilliant sun awake
while the rest of the world sleeps
It is the planting of greens
and all colorful hues of the rainbow
when spring comes to provide a home
and food for butterflies, birds, and bees
It is the reverence for every living thing
a respect if you will, for the smallest
creatures to the largest of beasts,
the understanding of natures rhythm
Kindness is the soft trod footsteps
on this incredible earth, our mother.

On hope’s wings comes the new birth of a season
As green life bursts forth, a time for fresh seeding
With every turn, turn, there is profound reason
While we pause, reflecting on life, and heeding.
As green life bursts forth, a time for fresh seeding
With joy we plant luscious fruits for tomorrow
While we pause, reflecting on life and heeding
With rich dirt on our hands, we bury our sorrow.
With joy we plant luscious fruits for tomorrow
Waiting for the new sprouting seeds to flower
With rich dirt on our hands, we bury our sorrow
For spring is the time for joy and golden hours.
Waiting for the new sprouting seeds to flower
With every turn, turn, there is profound reason
For spring is the time for joy and golden hours
On hope’s wings comes the new birth of a season.

I heard the red breasted robin singing today
His melody floated on the chilly morning breeze
So my friends our blooming time is not far away
For chartreuse young leaves are budding on trees.
His melody floated on the chilly morning breeze
He sang with pure innocence and joyous delight
For chartreuse young leaves are budding on trees
And vibrant wildflowers are a beautiful sight.
He sang with pure innocence and joyous delight
The words to his lilting song I could almost hear
These vibrant wildflowers are a beautiful sight
Enjoy, rejoice and sing for spring’s hope is near!
The words to his lilting song I could almost hear
So my friends our blooming time is not far away
Enjoy, rejoice and sing for spring’s hope is near
As I heard the red breasted robin singing today.

like thoughts drifting into the fertile air,
taking seed in the cracks and hollows
sprouting manifestos everywhere
