In direction from Crawling to Flying

Exactly what I am doing now that

I am Writing…………Flying Free

Grey

Heartbroken, she now forever resigned

For alas her sorrow had come to stay

No bells were tolling, no telling signs

No hooting owl on that bitter cold day,

When a fragile heart stopped and the world went grey

She walks at night praying to see his face in the pale moon

And looks for his brilliant eyes in the tempestuous sea,

But he’s not there she’s bereft, for he left gone all too soon

And she, once vibrant is now cursed to forever be

A specter of a woman haunted, yearning to be free

Halcyon

Autumn, by Michael Koenig

Recite

a charming tale

as we stroll the halcyon path

Vivid

memories come trickling forth, fall

from our cold trembling lips

to rest among

the leaves.

Author’s Note: Dedicated to my dear friend, Michael Koenig, who graciously allowed me to use this beautiful photo he took of his leaf strewn pathway.

Sweet Blessings

Sweet blessings to friends near and far

I’m grateful for you all

May your heart be joyous and thankful

May your table always be full

May your Thanksgiving be peaceful

Without all the noise of the world

Fleeting Shadows

Shadows washed in blue, trees painted in grey

light shrinks from the forest slips with stealth away

at the welcomed end of a steel vise cold wintery day

The forest comes alive in the waning dusky light

a gentle movement in music with gloom of coming night

as a Great Horned owl sings, spreads its wings, taking flight.

Nightfall is for hunters with stealth they hunt their prey

a time when creatures scurry, come out from hiding to play

when the melody of eventide crescendos, trees begin to sway
