Of Liquid Memories and Tears

“They both listened silently to the water, which to them was not just water, but the voice of life, the voice of Being, the voice of perpetual Becoming.”

― Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha

Though the water is crystal clear
tiny bubbles distort the view
a lifetime remembered in blue
of liquid memories and tears.

And yet I have no hidden fears
of what’s coming for now struck blind
the book says ‘Seek and ye shall find’
though some answers aren’t always true–
Sometimes thoughts stumble and fall through
leaving naught but a confused mind.

Stark Array

Surrounded by petrichor of tranquil rain
as it mingled with fragrance of wet roses
my soul awakens, reminiscing love’s kiss
glistening raindrops cooling hot tears
stars in our eyes falling, falling down
From threatening skies ~
Hearts cloaked in heavy perfume of flowers
at our feet in stark array, drifting pink petals
in our swirling souls, silvery essence of hope
as sensual aromas of luscious peaches linger
amid wistful sighs of our fevered searching lips.

Autumn Dayspring

Dawn in Mesa

Peach faced sun peeking
over the painted horizon
singing with glory the promise
of a brilliant Autumn dayspring

Crisp cool air upon bare cheeks
the striking scene mesmerizing
I close my eyes and listen, in sync
with the tiny hummingbird’s tweeting

His joyous song dances on rose tinted air,
as he puffs his small iridescent chest
and mourning doves join with gentle coos
in this moment, I am infinite, blessed.

Casting Shadows: 2020

Cypress bows in autumn rain
Bearing weight as if in pain
Casting shade on what remains
Furious dark storm unrestrained
As limbs of trees lay broken, felled.

Thunderclouds gather, striking fear
Roosted birds take wing, disappear
Sensing the change in atmosphere
As a once calm wind heaves and swells.

#Tanka: Oak Tree

footprints of time age
my ancient wrinkled body-
under the oak tree
acorns fall into dead leaves
come spring, bursting forth with life

Into Limpid Pools of Tranquility

“The greatest fear in the world is of the opinions of others. And the moment you are unafraid of the crowd you are no longer a sheep, you become a lion. A great roar arises in your heart, the roar of freedom.”

― Osho, Courage: The Joy of Living Dangerously

Staring into limpid pools of tranquility
mesmerizing amber eyes flecked
with golden specks reflecting
relentless intrepid heat
of an inner fire burning

For courageous lions will seldom acquiesce
nay, they will always resist
the expectation to conform
and follow the ignoble herd
