This is unfamiliar territory
maneuvering through Tropic of Cancer
as beams of intense energy
penetrate my tender left breast
leaving behind a loss of vigor
as my body fights alongside the rays
with a parched scratchy throat and
a weakened voice screaming in silent pain
But even so on this surreal journey (Why me?)
comes a keen sense of calm, of purpose
of a life worth fighting for
Rounding the Cape of Good Hope
as I navigate through unknown waters
I find my mind and soul alive, afloat
in the aftermath of the chaotic storm
I scream with newfound joy

“When the owl sings, the night is silent. (Quand le hibou chante, La nuit est silence)”
― Charles de Leusse
Three soft feathers lay at my feet
shed from a winged one flying high
On cool morning wind they did ride
before drifting down to the street
A lovely sight, ’tis bittersweet
the message they send me is clear
Know this, you have nothing to fear
My spirit abides in your heart
Our souls are one we’ll never part
For I will forever be near

“They both listened silently to the water, which to them was not just water, but the voice of life, the voice of Being, the voice of perpetual Becoming.”― Hermann Hesse
Water
Life by design
Deep and mysterious
Sweet melody of falling rain
Dripping
Origin of our creation
Luminous reflection
We…are water
Confined

And though the
journey may be long
with the end
not in view
between sunrise and sunset
Life becomes clearer
“Some beautiful paths can’t be discovered without getting lost.”

“We all float down here!” ― Stephen King, It
I am the haunting voice calling, calling, calling
your name from beyond the storm drain
with a rush of swirling water, pirating your fragile boat
taking it as mine to lure you down, down, down
to play in the dark abyss of evil insanity
Come play with me and the grey sewer rats
while they gnaw on your white bones and skin
when I come knocking, knocking, knocking
let me in to consume your innocent soul
I wear the maniacal masks of nightmare clowns
which one do you desire to meet your maker?

Janine sat on the front porch in her creaky rocking chair watching the sun peek over the horizon. It was going to be another long, hot day. She closed her eyes, listening to the birds singing to the rising sun. Memories came flooding back. She drifted off, lost in the past.
He was there, always- brief flashes of strong arms encircling her at odd moments every day. When she was in the henhouse, gathering eggs, when she was mucking out the horse stall, and laying down fresh hay. He enchanted her at the most unexpected times. In an instant, their clothes torn away as they lay on the sweet smelling alfalfa. After, he was pulling strands of hay from her curly tendrils.
How she missed him!
When it is over said and done, it was a time and there was never enough of it.
