Author’s Note: Although it is monsoon season, we have had no rain here in my part of Mesa. I can’t recall a dryer summer than this.

“There is no accident, just as there is no beginning and no end.” — Jackson Pollock
There is no accident just as there is no beginning and no end.
If there is no beginning, no moment we first breathe, how did we become?
Is the beginning a series of events that by design, not by accident
Fall into place, erase what was and create a new beginning?
And if our beginning is not real, is this life only a illusion
And thus our ending never ends, but only begins again?
There is no beginning, there is no end, and there is no accident
Then if nothing ends, nor begins, and nothing is an accident
How do we measure our thoughts, our desires, our very being?
And should we begin to ponder our desires, our precious life
Without astonishment and wonder, will that indeed create an end?
If our life has no beginning, does it also have no ending?
Life is what happens when you ignore beginnings and endings
And cherish each breath with no beginning and no end

Hello All- My first Throwback Friday post on Go Dog Go Cafe in a while. This is one of my favorite poems. Enjoy!- Peace and Love- Linda

I’ve been thinking of death a lot, and I am amazed by its inevitability, frightened, as we all are, of the totally unknown, and yet feel a long sleep is somehow earned by those of us who live on the edge.-Jackson Pollock
I’ve been thinking of death a lot and I am amazed by its inevitability.
There are those who try to run from death, but in the end, there is no escape.
There is no sanctuary from death; no respite, no silk cocoon you can wrap yourself in to avoid it.
Death is life and life is death and therein lies the metamorphoses
for both change and death are unavoidable.
Should one fear death if it is inevitable, or push the fear of dying aside?
And in thinking of death, do we speed up our soul’s path to death?
Or does thinking of death make us more…

This is the wandering place I sit contemplating life
listening to raucous lovebirds quarreling over seed
chartreuse feathers gleaming with their blush peach cheeks
feeding tiny young discovering newfound wings
while here and there goldfinches jump into the fray
Gila woodpeckers come to pound on this aging mesquite
searching for a few morsels tucked within its peeling skin
While mourning doves meander on the rocky ground
scratching about for cast off seed and creepy crawly things
curve billed thrashers and pigeons may have overlooked
But then the brazen opportunists arrive
adorned in jack boot black and blue dress
ruffling their glossy feathers, puffing out broad chests
billy club grackles cawing – to break up the joyous party
and all the other birds take wing into the vast blue sky
