Mother

My mother’s hospitality
Is the only true reality
That’s never, ever faltered
Through these many years.
She welcomed me
With a giving heart
And open loving arms
She dried my many tears.
She fed my empty belly
with her sublime southern food
She eased my weary soul
She silenced all my fears.
I’ll miss you today and tomorrow
and the day after that
Until at last, once again
I see that face so dear.
